Puffy box

This is a cute little box I thought I'd try. The instructions are on splitcoast, by Brandy Whisman.

It's rather simple to make and uses a CD/DVD for the template. Very clever!

The only modification I made was adding patterned paper for the lining inside the box. It looks better and also hides the pencil marks (I couldn't find an eraser).

One trick I found when making this is to fold while using the CD lined up with the fold lines and be pinching the corners to let it take shape.

Wedding notebook and CD case

Here is a lovely little wedding book I have made for a friend from work. She is having her hens party tomorrow and getting married on Friday. I have also made a CD case/cover as I will be taking photos for her and will put onto a disc. I will also be using one of the wedding photos to make a photo frame gift. I hope to be able to finish that next weekend.

I have gone with the SU eastern blooms theme with the book, CD cover and photo frame (yet to complete).

Mountain Visit - afternoon off work

Some more photos from my latest trip up the mountain...

This is about as good as it got with the cloud passing by....

It wouldn't be right not to try making a snowman! Okay I know he's not very good! I didn't have much to work with !!

And lastly the view towards New Plymouth....

Hopefully we are in for more snow this weekend... I'm looking forward to the next clear day when I can go to the skifield....

Mountain visit - afternoon off work

Well with the afternoon off work, i decided it would be a great time to go up the mountain... Unfortunately you couldn't see the mountain today due to cloud and rain. So the Stratford side was no go and the skifield was closed. So after alot of thought I decided to go up North Egmont. Well worth the trip as it was good weather on this side. Surprisingly warm and lots of breaks in the cloud.

This is one of the tracks I ventured up.... a little slippery in places due snow turning to ice.

Here is a cloudy misty view of the mountain.

This is the cutest little birdie living on the mountian, i think it is a North Island Robin, I called him a snow bird as has a beautiful white snowy breast.

Hung up on the holidays - popup christmas tree

This card has a very simple front, the stylie snowflake if from SU new catelogue, Winter Post set. For the inside of the card I have made a simple popup christmas tree. Added some ornaments from the SU Hung up on the holidays set and made a gingerbreadman chain which folds up when the card is closed. It's quite effective when you open the card as not only does the tree pop out but also the cute little gingerbreadmen....

I'm having a half day at work tomorrow and hoping for a beautiful day as I am planning on going up the mountain for some photography and a play in the snow! Yippee I LOVE winter.

She is so very clever and I learnt four new techniques. Thanks Michelle, Wow Wow Wow! (Check out her blog listed on the right O 2 B Stampin).

Of course I just had to place an order while I was at class (no control).. I also bought one of Michelle's new kits creates she sells, a scrapbook purse. I'm really looking forward to making this soon.

This little birthday card is with the birthday best cupcake, it's delightful! I have added some beads onto the cake....

Thanks Michelle for the great bargins! Your kindness is appreciated!

MOJO89 (Mojo Monday)

Yey the magic of mojo is back again this week!
I used my colour wheel for this card and really like the earthy combinations, Old olive, So saffron and Close to cocoa. The patterned paper is just a scrap I had left over from making envelopes...

Chaddys Charters - April

Back in April I went on Chaddy's Charters again, this time with my brother, Ian, who was here on holiday from London.
This was my second time on the boat, the weather was very stormy, we got soaked through and I had trouble keeping my camera dry. Not only were there 2 metre swells (which is big to me) but it was very windy and rocky. You had to hold on for your life!
I managed to get a couple of good photos before I couldn't contain myself anymore, and 'fed the fish'!

I am about to go out and take photos of our lovely mountain, Mt Egmont/Taranaki as we have lots of new snow and a beautiful sunny day..
